Tornado takes pair of horses on wild ride

Can horses suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder?

  1. Wow!! The swimming pool was a lucky landing, in some ways, I guess...maybe once they went in there they were safer from the winds??? What a scary thing to happen....more to worry about now when the storms kick up around here. *shudder*

I wonder if they will be a little leery next time the wind starts blowing when they are back home. I hope not. Poor things.

  2. The chestnut looked a little stressed from her ordeal. It's difficult to ascertain whether they'll be fine mentally after such an experience.

My mother told me a story about the barn at her country home in central Alberta being lifted and taken across the road, set down in one piece with all the farm animals in one piece.

  3. Wow, that's just crazy! I'm glad they are both okay.

  4. What an amazing story - first, that it happened to begin with, then that the horses came through without any major injuries. They seem pretty calm now, but I too wonder what they will do next time it gets windy.

  5. If the horses are frightened during the next high wind, that won't be PTSD, that will be reasonable caution. Lucky animals. I saw a video of a cow that survived a tornado, it was knocked down, but got right up after and trotted away at a normal pace.

  6. OMG! How fortunate that the injuries weren't worse than they are. Apparently no colic? Whew!

Thank goodness we don't have a tornado season here. Just earthquakes and exploding volcanoes. ;-)

  7. We just have earthquakes on the California coast. Much easier to deal with than tornado and hurricane season.
