Bling saddle: When every ride is a show

Schumacher seems to make a lot of bling-bling tack, and now they've come out with a bling saddle. Setting aside the whacky looking puffy panels in back, It's an attractive saddle. Do the crystals add to it? I don't know. Maybe I finally draw the line at saddles. Maybe if it was removable. Who wants to wear jewelry every day?

  1. seems like it would scratch the hell out of your boots.

  2. I was thinking too that if your leg didn't fit the front the the flap just perfectly, it could chafe your upper leg. And, until I read Carlys' remark, I didn't even think of the boots. I'm wondering if bling on the saddle might be better served some place where it would have no potential to interfere with performance. How about on the back of the cantle?

It's kind of pretty as a show piece, though.

  3. Also looks hard to clean. Nothing like scraping leather conditioner off of crystals before a shoe, hm?

  4. A bit much for my personal tastes. As Carlys said...

Also seems it would be a PITA to clean around these. Glad I ditched the tooled western saddle for that reason!

  5. The problem with bling is, every movement of the horse is magnified by the sparkles. If your horse's head isn't perfectly still, the crystals on the headband will magnify the movement. I'm not sure if saddle bling would do the same thing, but carlys. is correct about the scratching, especially if you did not have quiet legs.

  6. I like bling, but I would hate to keep those crystals clean and sparkly. And what if one fell out!

  7. Oh my! Between the saddle and the crystal silver boots, I may begin to reconsider riding dressage! Love the bling and flash!!

  8. I do like wearing jewelry everyday but not on my tack. That is really ugly.

  9. That one isn't too bad. Could look pretty on the right horse. Personally I stay away from bling because I have a deep-seated belief that the minute I hung any bling on my horse any riding ability that I have would evaporate.
I would look like the non-rider who got talked into riding in a parade and given the flashiest, blingiest, pranciest horse in the group to try to cling on til the parade was over.

  10. I do NOT like it. The crystals would get dirty and you couldn't really clean the leather surrounding them without getting the leather cleaning products on the crystals. IMHO this just goes too far.
