Requisite? Really?

At only 17 British pounds ($34), I suppose these Requisite breeches from Robinson Equestrian are a good buy. They are a bit much for me, personally, but they'd be great for kids and they might be a fun change of pace (and awesome for the next "pink ribbon" equestrian event).

But here are a few things that are not what I want in a breech...

  • I imagine myself trying these on, looking in the mirror, and brightly proclaiming "Hi, high-waister!" The waist would likely reach my armpits
  • "I've always wanted to wear argyle on my posterior," said no adult woman EVER.
  • I love pink, generally, but this pink is an agressive sort of pink that I'm not sure I'd want to wear...
The final verdict? These requisite breeches are requisite, if you are under 14. The site does not show sizing, and does not indicate it is for kids so I can't tell the intended audience. I'm gonna say KIDS.

  2. ... I'm 27... I'd totally wear those... Does that make me awful...?

  3. I'm 25.... and I think they're AMAZING! :P

  4. I'm short; I would look like a Pepto-Bismol-colored Oompa Loompa. Riding my black gelding in a black saddle might work, but riding my orangey chestnut mare in these would probably make onlookers physically sick. Ha.

  5. I'd submit this to Tack Tack of the Day Blog. But what's wrong with a high waist? If made properly made, I find it very nice. That's why I like the old time jodhpurs.

  6. I have a very similar pair that I got for $10:

  7. Dom, I stand corrected, they are adorable on you. I'm not sure everyone could pull it off, however.

  9. I am short-waisted (read somewhere the length of your arms outstretched, fingertip to fingertip, should be the same as your height--that "man in the circle drawing by Michaelangelo or DaVinci, can't remember) and by that standard I should be about 5'10". I'm 5'7". Some high-waisted things are too high for me, making me look even shorter in the trunk. As for pink? Not my color. But you're right--for a breast cancer awareness event, these would be perfect. And of course, if your costume were "preppy," this would be great, too. Get an argyle saddle pad, maybe "kneesocks" on the horse ... ;o)

  10. the site shows only childs sizes and usually it is just children that wear jodphurs. If they were $20 I'd buy them!

  11. I'm not sure I pull them off, either. I got them mostly as a gag. Haha.
