Day 1 Rolex: Non-stop goodness

The alarm went off at 4am, and at 5:40am we were on the plane. Seated next to Bob, I pulled my seatbelt out and the whole left strap came away in my hands. It was broken where it was supposed to attach to my seat. Bob's eyes got big, and he said "Shhhh! This could stop the whole flight in its tracks." I knew this was true. Nothing was said until we landed, and then I pointed the problem out to the stewardess.

Highlight of the day!
We saw Peter and Henny warm up and perform, and we ran into Peter a few hours after his ride. This highly fit, elite athlete, was walking along the vendor area with a plate of fried chicken and taters could have outweighed him. Bob congratulated him, and he graciously stopped to to talk to us. He told us how pleased he was with Henny. I could not help but stare at the food (My Lord, is that gravy drizzled on top?). My dad used to talk about how my grandmother fed farmhands, and she could have made up that plate. When people work as hard as these riders do, they probably don't have to worry.

Henny did look great, and the extended trot was particularly impressive. I took these photos during the warmup.
