Play that funky music -- dressage style

He was a little too eager at the start, and waaay too much energy at the end, and one movement was a spectacular combination of passage and extended trot -- but my goodness what a great, energetic, exciting freestyle! The unpredictability just made it that much more fun, and I got the sense that Wizard was lovin' his job (maybe a little too much).  Adrienne Lyle and Wizard show us something special, outside the realm of Michael Jackson/Beatles/instrumental.

  1. I absolutely love the two of them, and when Wizard sits and you see how hugely uphill he can get he takes my breath away! That said, my stomach clenches for Adrienne when Wizard tenses and curls back under himself. The feel of a ticking time bomb who removes all communication by doing that is NOT a pleasant one...

  2. What fun! The music was great and despite the overly enthusiastic effort on Wizard's part, it was a really good freestyle. I liked the choreography.

  3. Music is not really my cup of tea--I thought the music was supposed to "enhance," not "take over" the riding--but Wizard certainly looks like a willing fellow.

  4. What an enthusiastic horse! I admire Adrienne's tolerance for his over enthusiastic burst at the end. In time he won't do that but it almost seems like a shame to lose such energy and silliness as a horse matures.

  5. Whoa! That final centerline was insane, and not even talking about the blow up at the end! That weird extended/passage he did was bizarre!

  6. I saw this pair live a couple of years ago when she rode him to "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy". I had tears in my eyes it was sooo amazing.
