A very bad day in the big ring

And a valiant effort to make the best of it. It's worth watching to see how gracefully the rider coaxes some of the movements out of this horse...

  1. Just goes to show that - we ALL have our not so finer moments.

The rider handled it really well and having been in situations like this, it usually feels much bigger, much worse, much everything than it often looks to those watching.

  2. A great example of some very good riding. Also, this horse looks better on a bad day than any of mine do on the best of days. Haha.

  3. Took a few lessons with miss Raine. She was very tactful in teaching too

  4. I've always admired Kathleen...loved Avontuur. Breanna is really a NICE horse! But it just goes to show: it can happen to the best of us, horses are not motorcycles, when it starts to go wrong, the best get going. That was a super tactful ride in some very difficult circumstances.

  5. I have seen this pair compete before (at the CDI recently in San Juan Capistrano, among other places) and Kathleen is a very tactful rider who CAN coax the best from a horse that looks like she is about ready to jump out of her skin. I did not see this particular performance though I was at Del Mar that weekend. You're right, Stacey--Kathleen did a very nice job, all things considered.

  6. Nice and soft coaxing really describes it! I'm very jealous about how the rider adapts and just keep riding.

  7. That was impressive dedication to finishing what you started regardless.
