If horses...I am a strong believer in 24/7 turnout. If horses have enough hay or grass to keep them busy (which is the healthiest thing for them anyways) and have good shelter with protection from the wind, rain & sun they are happiest & healthiest outside. Every research study done shows that horses are healthier when turned out. Fewer colics, fewer ulcers, the list goes on. So, unless the weather is awful during the good months, they are out 24/7, and during winter, well... they're in whenever they want to be, which is generally 12+ hours a day. He goes outside, and I've seen footage of him being turned out with a little pony -- but I know horses that do not fare well on extended turnout -- they get bored, they start running, etc. I like that the staff are so attentive to him and that Anky is so actively involved in his care.
