Paying to look goofy. Off topic day.

I'm at a loss. How can this pogo-shoe offer lateral stability? Won't the heel get caught in dangerous ways to escalators and such? And doesn't it look really silly?

  1. I've seen someone wear these. Yes, it does look goody. No idea if it works, though.

  2. Didnt Kramer invent a pair of shoes like this?

  3. Where do you find these things??? *G*

My Skechers Shape Ups have a lowered heel and work really well. Not sure what this rig would do.

Far too expensive for a test, though.

  5. I don't think the heel is any more likely to get caught than women's high heels and such.

I've heard secondhand (friend of a friend) that they do work.

If I were going to buy goofy footware, I'd get these first.

  6. They are really silly looking, but they work great. I do not own a pair, but I have tried them on and have a friend who swears by them. The coil acts as a great shock absorber and helps with stability by making changes in the shoe so your ankle doesn't have to. I am a foot and ankle surgeon and I must say that they really help out people who have had their ankle or other joints in their foot fused due to arthritis. Try them.

  7. A couple friends of mine wear these or something very similar and swear by them. They also live in town. (I'm their odd friend the reclusive country girl.) Whether the shoes are effective or not, I could not wear these on the old farmstead. I'd always be getting tangled in grass and weeds. I have to walk up and down a steep hill to pump water from the creek - wonder how the shoes handle slopes? I'll stick with my purple hightops for now. ;-)

  8. I too have Skechers Shape Ups and love them. I am also a sucker for anything new in athletic shoes. Those who have tried these seem to like them, so wacky as they look, I'd want to give them a try. They're a little pricey, though - I may have to wait a while!

  9. Would it cost so much to just wrap it in foam and rubber?
