Best moments of 2010 from BTB

Here is my list of top three moments for 2010...
  1. Riley outside for the first time in 8 months. I love the picture to the left, where he's sniffing the cold March air.
  2.  Harv and Riley meet for the first time.
  3. Riley's return to the Dixon Oval.
  4. Seeing Heather Blitz and Paragon.
  5. Harv recovering from his gimpy leg.
My rides on Riley are works in progress, so they didn't quite make the list. Padre's win at Devon is probably my favorite non-personal BTB moment.

So what are your personal best moments of 2010?

Coming up next, the New Year's resolutions.

  2. When you think about it, you had quite an eventful year. But I totally agree with the two highlights of two wonderful horses returning to soundness after epic layoffs--Riley especially.

I can still remember agonizing with you through his long recovery and worrying from afar. (Can't remember details enough to enter your trivia contest, but I sure can vividly recall my emotions through the ordeal.)

Your dedication and determination to bring both your Boys back to health deserves a ton of credit, so I'd like to add to the "Best Moments," some kudos for a truly amazing horsewoman who proved to us all what horesmanship is all about--you!!

Happy New Year! May it be full of even better successes.

  3. Just recently Nina turned the corner from resisting my determination that... 'yes, I am going to ride you AGAIN and no, I am not going to get sucked into a fight with you' to being a willing participant and interested in what we are going to do next. A day that I wasn't sure would ever come.

  4. I saw the most beautiful horse I had ever seen in October 2009.

I bought him in March 2010. I didn't know anything about him the first time I saw him, and everything I heard about him after that made it sound as if we weren't suited to each other. It turned out he was looking for me even more than I was looking for him, and we're a perfect match.

Finding my heart horse and the absolute adoration we have for each other pretty much takes up all 5 spots on my best of list for 2010!

  5. The highlights of 2010 for me include buying a horse after being horseless for almost 15 years and going to the WEG!

  6. My best equine moment of 2010 was Tetley's arrival at JK Ranch after traveling all the way from Cambridge, England to Boulder, Colorado. His sweet, and very curious face told me all I needed to know, that he weathered the trip just fine! Close to a miracle!

  7. My first "real" show. (4 days! total blast! awesome, awesome, awesome. I had been dreaming of that for literally years. grew up at that show.)
Horse got her teeth floated (Now i'm making myself sound like a nerd. but I finally met the vet who is GREAT and I'm sososososo happy that my horse has great dental conformation. Woot!)
Overall just general progress with pretty much everything.(riding, manners, groundwork)
    Not so great moments:
moldy hay situation at boarding barn
    self absorbed tweens with horses

  8. Cute photo!
For me, this was the year of the well-fitted saddle. None of our progress or enjoyment would have been possible without it!

  9. Wow, so many horse purchases in 2010. I too was in the horse buyer category. After losing my horse of 15 years in 08, horse shopping was daunting. Luckily, the first horse I looked at was the one I bought, and he was only two hours away.

He is a dream. An adorable mini-warmblood sprite with a wonderful mind.

I also discovered this blog in 2010, which was a great thing as well. Following Riley's impressive progress helps me as I embark on developing my own young dressage prospect.
