Tom Dvorak rides an Irish Draght at Intermediare

Pretty neat, and he's light on his feet!

  1. Ah, the versatility of the Irish Draught! These guys were bred to pull the plow all week, take the family to Mass in the jaunting car on Sunday morning and carry the farmer in the hunting field on Sunday afternoon.

The current Irish National Champion Claggan Roxy Music is half Irish Draught and has consistently beaten imported warmbloods throughout her career. You can't beat the traditional Irish horse for temperament.

  2. Wow, that boy used to be at my lesson barn! Now we have one of his babies, out of a thoroughbred. She is one of the prettiest, good natured horses I've ever met, just like her sire!

It's great to see him out there!

  4. I'm fond of heavier built horses, so I think he's fantastic. He's really balanced, and it shows in his circle work.
Dvorak could have a quieter leg, though....

  6. Very nice. I have a question, being fairly new to dressage... Is this horse slightly behind the verticle quite a bit, or is that what is expected? He just looks a little curled up to me. My instructor tells me you should be able to see the leather of the bridle behind the ears while riding. He is a lovely horse.

  7. The rider has a nice seat, too--very quiet ride. I enjoyed the link. Thanks ;o)

  8. I'm sorry but I didn't care for this at all- the poor horse's face pulled back forcibly by the reins is hard to watch.

  9. I was actually able to see this ride in person while volunteering for Cara Whitham, he did well with both Steeped in Luck and Viva's Salieri.
