Dream 2 Grip would Seem 2 HURT!

I want to have faith in Derdau, because I love their boots. This is an unusual thing to say because I have never tried on Derdau boots, much less ridden in them.  But every year at Rolex I go to their booth and drool over their showcase of boots in unusual colors, leathers, and textures. Well, here is a new "texture" that I'm... I'm... I'm just not sure.

  Grip and durability
The ad says "grip and durability," which are good for the rider. But I think Harvey would have definite opinions about these.  I'm not sure how these pimply dots would enhance grip or durability. I seem them as making your horse "hot off the leg."

  1. I know what you mean, I've seen an advert for these and I don't think it would help, I completely agree that it would make them 'hot off the leg' Gatsby would have a fit!

  2. That is a terrible idea! My horse would have hated that and so would my saddle. Seems like it would rub holes on the leather!

  3. So I would assume this would have to fit so none of the bumps extend beyond the flap of the saddle? They look terrible to me! My TB gets sores from sturdy saddle pads or if my boots break down wrong and there's a wrinkle in the ankle which sticks out, much less grippy nubs on boots...

  4. I agree with you here. Basically, these are like tiny, blunt spurs (I cannot even imagine wearing these on a hot TB or Arab). If a rider's seat is not stable enough to provide her with security without putting duct tape on the inside of her boots, then maybe she needs to get back to walk/trot basics on a longe line. LOL. :)

  5. Well I'm not letting 'strategically placed rubber pellets' anywhere near my nice leather dressage saddle, thanks very much! You might save money on replacement boots, but a trashed saddle will be considerably more expensive.

    1. Exactly! There's NO WAY I'd run the risk of ruining the leather on the saddle I've waited forever to own!

  6. Good grief... I would be embarrassed to even show up at the barn wearing these! I guess the people at Der-Dau know what they're doing, and maybe the pimply-dots are softer than they look, but I would not dream of finding out via actually applying them to a horse's sides. NO thanks.

  7. I'm not a Derdau fan because I dislike the footbed. They look like clown shoes to me. I prefer the footbed of Petrie boots. As for the pimples, just how much would they actually touch the horse?

  8. Is this even a real ad? A reputable, high-end company didn't even hire a proofreader to catch 'placed in the inner leg to optimizeD durability' and 'without the damage OF sticky sprays can cause'?
