Falling off is a spectator sport - thanks to Youtube

Youtube has it's share of horsie atrocities on film. At least as remarkable as the rider/horse mishaps are the spectators...

"Nerves of steel" mother of the year award...
Goes to this mom (videotaping at 24" and 1'19," through three bucking fits).
The girl is certainly gutsy, but that's no kid's pony.

A Mexico vacation
The teen claims he was coerced to ride while on vacation in Mexico (read text on Youtube for his account of the event). If mom was the one who insisted, she has a come to Jesus moment while videotaping...

"Knock it off"
Moms are all about being helpful. Chiding the bucking horse. That's real helpful...

Low-brow entertainment...

Youtube reveals our humanity in all its forms, and it isn't always very flattering. One look at the image hints at the Jerry Springer moments to come. Pony comes out of it unscathed, but still, those with delicate sensibilities may want to skip this one.

  1. It blows my mind that people will continue to allow their children to ride a pony/horse that have a bucking/rearing problems. Eventually, something really bad is going to happen, head injuries occur even with helmets. And a helmet will not stop broken bones.

  2. Sorry Brenda, I don't know what's sadder, that you couldn't fit into a western saddle or that the horse let you try.

  5. Who would even think that the oversize women should even TRY to ride an undersize horse? Don't people think at all?

I feel sorry for the woman and even sorrier for that patient, gentle pony. The only one who should feel ashamed is the idiot holding the pony. Geeeezzzz!

Scary pictures of the bucking horses. Worst of all is the one with the woman when the horse rears and is just nearly at the point of going over. My heart was in my throat.

I'm the one who gets off when my horse threatens to buck.

  6. I think too many people treat ponies as stepping stones to a bigger ride and don't invest enough time in correcting behaviour issues.
I got a very handy welsh/morgan cross when I was 11. She was way too experienced and cunning to waste energy bucking. The moment she felt your attention slip she pulled something - usually an enormous leap sideways or up a bank. She also like to bump your knee on a post - you could see her aiming for it. I learned how to keep my seat on her and stay alert. On the other hand she was dead calm. Once we were just about to cross a highway and there was a vehicle collision in front of us. She jumped of course, but then stood rock still, even when the drivers got into a fight in front of us. Marvelous mare.
We also had a 9 hand shetland pony. He bucked my uncle right over his head.

  7. That first video looks like a haffie and maybe the last video as well... hard to tell. What a naughty pony in the first video. He has that poor girl's number for sure!

  8. LMAO! I think my eyes were more offended at the third video, than my ears were! If she couldn't get on that pony FROM THE TAILGATE OF A TRUCK, there was no way she was going to be able to get on anything bigger! Bwah ha ha!

The second video sounded eerily like my MIL! SCARY!

Personally, I think ponies are evil anyway. That little girl in the first video is a darn good rider though!

Great videos! I am going to need some Riley and Harv updates though! :)

  9. I like the pony one. The kid has a good attitude. But ya, not really the ideal kid's mount. Acts just like Armani.
