Tattoo You! The kind of tat I'd wear

I love this, but god forbid she one day get an Oldenburg...

  1. I have considered getting my horse's lip tattoo somewhere... While I expect I'll have warmbloods in my future, this OTTB is totally the horse of a lifetime for me. He has opened a new world of possibilities for me, taught me what a true partnership with a horse is, he's the motivation behind buying horse property and building the barn/facilities we did... He's significant enough that even if I someday find myself with all Hanoverians (or KWPN, Old, whatever) in the future, a tattoo of his lip # would still be significant.

  2. Ouch! What should I get (on my butt--the part that touches him most often) for my Percheron-Welsh Cob cross?!

  3. The tattoo is ok, but the piercing, yikes! Can't imagine some of the dismounts I have had to do with one of those, ouch!

  6. Ah yes, a pre-pregnancy tattoo. What brand will it look like after a baby or two?

I've always wondered about tattoos that are in the stretch zone!

  7. supposedly next year it will be illegal to hot brand horses in germany due to the pain it causes say animal rights people. i'm surprised it was legal for so long in a land that forbids ear/tail docking in dogs and considers castration cruel. most of the articles i read say "a warmblood without his breed brand is a mercedes without its star" but the brands also include a part of the registration number which serves as identification and protects against thieves better than a chip.

  8. Not everyone plans on having kids, and fear of stretching your tattoo is great motivation to stay fit.

  9. I have considered getting part of my horses reg. named on me, Guardian on the back of my neck. It means two things to me, one my once in a life time horse & I also purchased him on the aniversary of my dad's death, so I think him as my guardian as well! :)

  10. When that young thing with the tat ages a bit, she's going to look like she is wearing two giraffes, tied at the neck. It ain't gonna be pretty. The guy who used to do the chiropractic work near me said he had an aunt who was in her 90s. She had a rosebud tattooed on her breast when she was 20 and today it's a long-stemmed rose in full bloom. ;o) Gravity is a b-word, lemme tell ya.

  11. Soooo that's my torso and new tattoo! I had been wanting this for at least 6 years now and finally got the balls to do it. I got it a week ago today and still can't stop looking at it and smiling.
I wanted something to always remember my first horse, East Bound aka Lance. Next week I'll have owned him for 11 years! He's definitely one of a kind and helped me through my rough, awkward teenage years and with my severe depression/bipolar. At my worst he is the only thing that can get me out of bed and the times i have been suicidal he is my only reason for not going through with it because i worry where he'll end up... so yeah, he's very special to me and now i feel like he is part of me.

As for my tatt stretching when i have kids, that doesn't bother me much. I would hate for it to be ruined but if it happens it happens. it can always be covered by another tattoo and put elsewhere. besides, after having kids who's going to see it? doubt i'll be wearing a bikini ;)

strange fact: Lance's brand and my tattoo are the same size. It wasn't planned <3
