War Horse: Hand me a hanky

I'm going to try to talk Bob into seeing this movie Christmas Day, Sunday. I know he'll be reluctant, because he didn't respond enthusiastically to my hints on the subject.

When I look at this promo poster, I think two things:
  1. How amazing that there are TWO, TWO major motion pictures about horses/horsemen (Buck and War Horse).
  2. You should never stand like that over a horse's head. Ask me how I know.
I know because Harv flips his face around a lot, and it's a good way to crack a tooth. Practical Horseman has also warned about  doing this while haltering or bridling a horse.

So, are you all going too? When?

  1. I am going to wait until it comes out on cable OR the DVD is available because I want to be able to cry without embarrassment--and I KNOW I will cry and I would be mortified in the theater. Even if everyone ELSE is crying too. Some ladies "cry pretty." Not I.

However, do let us know what you thought of it.

  2. I am incredibly keen for this movie. But unfortunately it does not come out in NZ until the 14th of January. Going to rope the BF along, he looked at the trailer and said "it has explosions and old school war, I'm in haha"

  3. I'm far too much of a coward to see that movie. I anticipate lots of emotions and tears.

  6. I'll probably go sometime during the week. I think one of the local theaters has discounts on Tuesday...either way, I get the senior price. *blush*

I'm going to bring lots of tissues.

  8. I've had several non-horsey friends request to see it with me, starting the day after Christmas. I've had to make up a schedule so many want to see it. So far I have three "appointments", lol. I think a lot of them want to go with me so I can explain things to them, this happened when Secretariat came out. I'll be packing some tissues and warning them all in advance that I'll most likely be a sobbing mess at several points.

  9. I saw it a week and a half ago thanks to the wounded warriors and the Maryland horse industry. It was fabulous!

  12. I will probably see it this week, but I am going to resist comparing it to War Horse the puppet play, which was unforgettable.
